1. First, you should check to see how much is left to pay on your current loan. You can often view the balance of your monthly statement.
2. We have an intuitive Value Your Trade tool similar to Kelly Blue Book that carefully estimates the value of your vehicle based on mileage and condition. However, the final price won’t be given until it’s inspected at our dealership.
3. If you owe less on your loan than we offer for trade-in, you can put the extra money towards a new vehicle. For example: If you own $3,000 on your vehicle in Ascension, and we value the vehicle at $4,000, you can put the extra thousand toward your new car.
4. 4. If you own more on the loan than your car is worth, you will be responsible for paying off the remaining balance. However, the dealership will often roll over the balance and add it to your next loan. In this case, the dealer pays off the remainder of the loan, and then you pay the dealership back when it’s added to the new loan.

What Is “Rolling Over” A Loan?

Rolling over a loan is when the dealership pays the remaining balance of your existing car loan, and adds what they paid to your new loan. So, in this case, you would be paying off the bank for your new car, and the dealership for paying your existing loan.
